FAQ
What file formats does HERE XYZ support for upload?

Files can be uploaded to HERE XYZ in the following formats: .csv, .geojson, .geojsonl, and .shp.

What is HERE XYZ?

HERE XYZ is a cloud-based, real-time location data management service that simplifies the storage, editing and publishing of location data for creating maps and location-aware applications.

What is HERE XYZ Studio?

HERE XYZ Studio is a web application and a part of the HERE XYZ service. It is used to make maps as well as manage location data without any coding.

What can I do with HERE XYZ?
  • Create a map from your data to embed in a website or application. Share with others or keep it for private use.

  • Layer data sets from different sources – your own data or publicly available data on a map for additional context.

  • Create an interactive map and filter data to aid in manual (human) analysis and decision making.

  • Bring live data on a map and see updates in real-time.

  • Manage (store, edit, publish) your location data within your existing workflow.

  • Build a map or a location-aware application that combines uploaded data with HERE Location Services like geocoding, routing, and search.

To learn more, try the HERE XYZ StudioHERE CLI or the XYZ Hub API.

Do I have to pay to use HERE XYZ?

HERE XYZ is available to all customers under a Freemium Plan, featuring a free-tier that does not require a credit card. Please visit https://developer.here.com/plans for more information about plans.

How do I get technical support for HERE XYZ?

Please ask your technical questions on Stack Overflow.

Can I use OpenStreetMaps (OSM) data with HERE XYZ?

It is possible to upload OSM data into one or more HERE XYZ Spaces. Users are responsible for ensuring they meet the terms and conditions of all data providers used by their maps.  Please review terms at https://developer.here.com/terms-and-conditions.

HERE XYZ Studio offers the option of a base map style that is derived from OSM. Regardless of the base map style chosen, HERE XYZ does not allow base maps to be edited. Users are responsible for ensuring they meet the terms and conditions of all data providers used by their maps.  Please review terms at https://developer.here.com/terms-and-conditions.

How can I see data contained in an XYZ Space, other than using the native renderer?

Developers can pick the renderer of their choice. Some examples of possible renderers are Tangram, Leaflet and Three.js. To learn more about using Tangram to render XYZ Space data, see the tutorial entitled “Making a Map with XYZ”. To learn more about using Leaflet to render XYZ Space data, see the tutorial entitled “Air Quality in Madrid”. To learn more about using Three.js to render XYZ Space data, see the tutorial entitled “Global Flight Tracker”.

Are there any size restrictions on the data that I upload?

In general, there are no technical restrictions on the size of a file upload. However, there are practical considerations that imply that file sizes larger than about 3GB are better added to an XYZ Space in a different manner. If you have such a need, please contact us on Stack Overflow.
